Silvia Arvanitis, an aspiring writer, and David Hartwell, a quidditch player, met at a party thrown by Silvia's parents in Canada. The two hit it off fairly quickly, and it seemed to be a match made in heaven. Soon enough they were married and not long after they welcomed their first child, Alexander, into the world. The family, at least from the outside, looked perfectly happy and David was always gushing over his perfect family. But at home it was a different story. When David had a little too much to drink, he would resort to hitting his wife when he was frustrated or angry at pretty much anything. He was very careful with it, and nothing was seen in public. As Alex was getting older, David would also hit him, using discipline as an excuse.

When Alex was two years old, the couple found out they were expecting again, and they were excited to grow their family. On December 25th, Evander arrived, but the complications from his arrival meant his mother, and twin sister, wouldn't make it. David was devastated, and blamed baby Evan for the deaths. When they were buried, and his season over, David moved Alex and Evan back to the UK, where he was from, to escape the reminders. He continued to play quidditch for a while, usually leaving the boys with a nanny. After the death he started drinking more, and the abuse of both boys increased, with more landing on Evan. He even verbalized it so much, Alex started to hit Evan and blame him.

The boy grew up quiet and afraid, and would often try escape to books and hide quietly to avoid any anger. Alex was much like his dad, loud and popular, while Evan was more like his mother, shy and interested in books. The only difference was Evan had his father's quidditch talent, and his brother didn't. Eventually his father retired and moved into coaching when the boys were older. That’s when he started bringing them to practice, and where Evan grew a love for the sport, thanks to the team captain, who would take him up on a broom and show him how to fly.

When they were both 11, the boys went to Hogwarts. Alex was a Slytherin, as their father, and Evan was a Ravenclaw, a fact that disappointed his father. Evan was an easy target, especially for his brother and his gang of friends. He was bullied for years at school and abused at home. He just kept his nose down, and practiced hard on the quidditch pitch. He did well in school and excelled at Quidditch.

After graduation he joined the Puddlemere United team for a few years, as a chaser. His father had moved back to Canada at this point and owned the Haileybury Hammers, and his brother was working for the ministry. The pureblood elite feelings were growing among both of them, but Evan didn't share those views. With the war brewing, David forbade his boys from participating, but neither listened. Evan funneled money and help to the Order, while his brother had become a Death Eater. It all came to a head at the Battle of Hogwarts. The brothers faced off, and with Evan having a little more confidence from playing quidditch he was able to stand up to his brother. Unfortunately he also caused the death of his brother. His father didn't quite forgive him for that, and ended up trading for him.

So now Evan is playing for the Haileybury Hammers, and quite miserable. He was also invited to join the Canadian National Team. He is still more or less the same shy kid that loves books. But he manages to hide it fairly well in public.
